Spine ends and lower edge lightly rubbed, a few light stains to rear endpapers (probably from something having been placed between them), else a fine copy in original color pictorial dust jacket (slight creasing at spine ends and corners). Inscribed by the author, James Thurber, and with a bookplate signed by the artist, Marc Simont, laid in!

First edition. Thurbers sublimely whimsical fairy tale of love forestalled has delighted generations of readers, and Marc Simonts enchanting full-color illustrations truly elevate this book to the classic status that it deserves.
