There is something peaceful and serene about the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay.Away from I-95s busy metropolitan corridor, the regions tranquil and picturesque towns reveal glimpses of history dating back to colonial days in their architecture and festivals and fairs.

First occupied by Native Americans and then colonized by the English, this portion of Maryland has been fertile ground for farming, hunting, and fishing for generations. Ninety photographs capture the history, culture, and scenes of many towns and villages that have grown along the regions waterways and marshes.
